United Way of the Bay Area’s Emerging Leaders is a dynamic group of young professionals driven to create lasting change through philanthropy, volunteerism andcommunity leadership. Emerging Leaders donate $1,000 or more annually toward our
goal of cutting poverty in half in the Bay Area by 2020. United Way of the Bay Area provides our members with opportunities to make a meaningful difference in our community through exclusive volunteer experiences, networking events, and professional development opportunities. Our members are the next generation of leaders in community and business from a diverse cross-section of Bay Area industries including: communication, energy, technology, transportation, retail, government, finance, consulting, and law.

How do I qualify as an Emerging Leader?
Emerging Leaders contribute $1,000 or more annually, with a portion benefiting United Way.
What is the time commitment?
While most of our members actively volunteer, there is no time commitment required. And our events, while undoubtedly fun and enriching, are entirely optional.
What are the benefits of being an Emerging Leader?
Beyond being part of a network of people all investing together in local community change, members also enjoy year-round engagement opportunities, including exclusive volunteer, networking and leadership development events. Events have included:
- Waiting for “Superman” : exclusive San Francisco premiere and education panel
- Capitol Day: Meet local legislators and advocate for issues concerning poverty
- Going All In: Casino night fundraiser gala benefiting Community Schools
